Seed Beads 14/o, Earth Mother Crafts

My seed beads are sold by weight or by *hank* where noted. Pre-strung hanks may differ in size, strand count and weight depending on bead size, manufacture and country of origin. Loose beads come in zipper bags, packaged by weight in grams or ounces. One ounce (1 oz.) packages contain approximately 28-30 grams.

Our Japanese 14/o Rocailles are actually marketed as 15/o, but they are closer in size to the 14/o seed beads manufactured in the Czech Republic, Italy, France and elsewhere and mix well with them. Which is why they are listed in this category. Our 15/o seed beads are actually smaller and more accurate to size. Most of the 14/o colors offered in this section were originally purchased prior to 1996 and may have been discontinued or no longer match the new dye lot numbers currently offered by manufacturers. Therefore, quantities are extremely limited.

Czech 14/o Seed Beads	Japanese 14/o Seed Beads
**Czech seed beads are uniform in size with smaller holes and thicker walls. They are best known for their traditional smooth, rounded shape and wide range of colors.	**Japanese seed beads are very uniform in size but more cylindrical in shape, with large holes and thinner walls. Most popular for their wide variety of colors and finishes.

French 14/o Seed Beads	Italian 14/o Seed Beads
**French seed beads are more irregular in size and shape, but have larger holes than the Czech seed bead with colors that are the most durable and resist fading. They are most popular for traditional beadwork and artifact reproductions.	**Italian seed beads are no longer being produced and those available are from vintage stock. While sharing the same rounded shape as Czech seed beads, they are slightly less uniform. Vintage Italian seed beads are the bead of choice for doing repair, restorations and reproductions of traditional 1865 through 1900 beadwork.
