 RHODOCHROSITE: (also called called "Inca Rose Stone", "Raspberry Spar" or "Maganese Spar") is a manganese carbonate deriving its name from the Greek word "rhodon", meaning "rose". It is a very attractive mineral with a unique and beautiful color, consisting of variations of light pink to dark rose, sometimes streaked with swirling patterns of cream and pale gray calcite. Rhodochrosite is similar in color to Rhodonite, except that it is softer and lacks the black veining associated with its close relative.
